Testimonials for Successful Community Partnerships
First United Methodist Church has done so much for us. They have provided monetary funds to purchase much needed items such as a small copier, ink cartridges, additional Open Court (phonics program) materials, pencil sharpeners, etc. This year, they asked each grade level to give them a "wish list." What they don't have funds for, they search their homes and donate or build for the school such as rocking chairs, easels, and book shelves. In addition to that, they also help out individual children when they are in need of clothing or shoes.
Of course, the best thing we receive from them is their time. We can call on several of our volunteers, especially the Penningtons, to help out with watching classes (while the teacher meets on campus with a parent or grade level) or to volunteer in the library and at school functions. They even provide snacks for the teachers at meetings and during Teacher Appreciation Week!
The folks at FUMC give so freely and genuinely we feel they are truly sent from heaven." - Donna Wallette, Principal, Magnolia Woods Elementary
