What impact can an insurance agency have on public education?
Ask Liz Treppendahl, Vice President of Wright & Percy Insurance.

Wright & Percy traces its history back to 1882 and prides itself on being Louisiana's oldest and largest independently owned insurace agency.

During a Rotary meeting, Liz heard VIPS board member John Miller discuss the number of children in the parish who read below grade level. She also heard that the adult illiteracy rate in our community stands at one in four. She realized that she needed to get involved in schools in order to curb this devastation. Liz decided to become a Reading Friend at Westdale Heights Academy.

Her positive experience in the EveryBody Reads program led her to invite her staff to join her in molding successful readers - laying the foundation for a stronger workforce. Wright & Percy boasts 13 volunteer Reading Friends in six EBR schools. Liz commented, "It has been very rewarding for all of us who have become reading partners. We all enjoy the feeling of helping a student and helping better our community."
